About the IOV-GM1-201 trial
IOV-GM1-201 is a clinical trial evaluating an investigational cell therapy, IOV-4001, in patients with non-small cell lung cancer that is metastatic (has spread to a different part of the body).
IOV-GM1-201 will assess the safety of IOV-4001 and whether it can:
- Reduce tumor size
- Slow tumor growth
- Eliminate tumors that show up on scans
- Extend patients’ lives without their cancer worsening
Patients may be eligible to participate in this trial if:
- Their cancer did not respond to previous chemotherapy and/or immunotherapy
- Their heart is working well
- Their lungs are working well and moving air the way they should
- They have at least one tumor that can be removed by surgery and one tumor that can be tracked on scans
Here is what patients can expect in the trial:
First, patients undergo surgery in which a sample of their tumor is removed. The tumor is then used to make IOV-4001. Once IOV-4001 is ready, patients receive chemotherapy (cyclophosphamide and fludarabine) followed by IOV-4001 and then an immune-stimulating drug, IL-2.
